Kill Switch

Enhanced reliability for the same price

What is Kill Switch?

Kill switch is a feature that instantly turns off your internet connection if it detects disruptions or failures in a VPN connection. This protects your real IP and location from accidental exposure in the result of dropped connection with a VPN server or other similar issues. Without kill switch enabled, you may not even know that you are no longer under VPN protection, and will continue browsing via simple ISP-provided connection.

This feature is a small yet essential addition to the security provided by VPN Unlimited. Kill switch will be especially valuable for users with an increased demand for a reliable privacy protection. This includes business owners keeping commercial secrets, journalists and other activists that live in autocratic states, or even common torrent users who wish to hide their identity.

Kill Switch VS On Demand

Even the most stable VPN services like VPN Unlimited can have an occasional disconnect. Striving to secure our users in the most reliable way possible, we have utilized the On Demand feature until recently. It is designed to launch the VPN connection as soon as your device sends a request to a website or online service. Basically, On Demand is supposed to protect users from the aforementioned VPN connection disruptions.

Alas, the On Demand feature turned out to have a number of flaws. For instance, it is a system option, meaning that we have no control over its performance and can’t guarantee it is up to the challenge. That’s why we felt like it was our duty to develop a different solution, and the one that we will have control over. And that’s why we have implemented kill switch to VPN Unlimited.

Important!

We have noticed that the On Demand feature is sometimes called Kill Switch On Demand or something along those lines. Don’t get tricked though, it’s still the same exact On Demand feature, and in most cases it doesn’t provide the sufficient security levels compared to kill switch. Also, the Kill Switch feature is incompatible with iOS devices, so if you see it advertised for one - know for sure that it’s a false advertising which will only provide the On Demand feature at best.
